Meshy Review: Fast AI 3D Generation, But Can You Print It?

TL;DR
Meshy is one of the fastest and most mature AI 3D generators on the market, and for game assets and CGI it’s genuinely good. For 3D printing, the picture is mixed: generation is quick and inexpensive, but in our testing most outputs needed a mesh repair pass before the slicer would accept them. If you print functional parts, budget an extra 10–15 minutes per model for cleanup; if you print decorative pieces, it’s one of the better options available today.

What Meshy does well
Generation speed is Meshy’s headline strength: text-to-3D and image-to-3D both complete in about a minute, and the texturing pipeline is ahead of most competitors. The free tier is generous enough to evaluate seriously, and paid plans start at $20/month.
Printability: where it gets complicated
Watertightness is the gate for printing. On our 10-image benchmark set (see how we test), a majority of Meshy outputs arrived non-manifold — visible as slicer warnings, missing walls, or failed first layers. The standard workflow is: export → run a repair (MeshMixer, Windows 3D Builder, or your slicer’s built-in fixer) → re-check wall thickness. It works, but it’s a real step, and it’s exactly the step most Meshy reviews never mention.
